E.L.F

In life there are certain things that should always, always remain a secret - who ate the last Rolo being at the top of the list. Concurrently some things should be shared, and in this case, after much deliberation, I've decided to share that very thing that perhaps any sane person would keep rigidly to themselves.

I can imagine my auntie's face reading this. No, I'm not pregnant or about to reveal some case sensitive information. I have recently fallen upon something that has in fact changed my life.

They say that finding the perfect pair of jeans is a lifelong quest that once reached is the key to personal happiness. Unfortunately this is usually only to be fully realised by a sublimely lucky minority. I have failed to reach that denim pinnacle but I have been so fortunate as to discover something equally as elusive - a makeup brand that offers both affordability and quality.

I can feel your eye rolls and imagine your tut tutting but this seemingly unbelievable makeup concept does exists. I know you'd far likelier believe that a 'perfect jeans' tree grew indigenously around the UK but I'm here to remove the veil of mystery. For the investigators out there, yes, as my title suggests, 'E.L.F' is what all the fuss is about. It stands for eyes, lips and face - and not to throw too much at you at once - but they really do live up to their namesake. Not many beauty brands can boast being specialists in makeup in the general sense but ELF can wave the brag flag without reproach.

Now I can't take full ownership in discovering this little gem. My sister, the makeup fanatic, stumbled upon a teeny ELF kiosk in the city and, of course, it sparked my interest. One google search and I was on my way to a full makeup bag and a surprisingly healthy looking purse. I love a 'win, win' situation - I mean I don't know many people who don't to be honest, so this may be of interest to all of you out there...

The range of products is quite overwhelming - but in a good way - I will warn you however that you may want to make a list of things that you need because it is all too easy to get *slightly* carried away. I would definitely recommend the concealer sticks, they glide on and offer great coverage and are small enough to carry everywhere (and trust me, once you've got one you'll never want to be without it!) They also have a stunning range of blushers - I tried the contouring blush and bronzer in the colour Antigua, which on first sight could be mistaken for an 80s throw back in all its florescence, but it does in fact offer a really pretty flush of pink. And while I'm already reeling off my list of 'must haves' I feel impelled to mention the Studio Matte Lip Colour which I just had to buy in two shades: Coral (which is on the pink side of coral rather than orangey) and Tea Rose (which despite looking pink in pictures is actually purple). The Tea Rose is my favourite, since this lovely little stick found it's way into my hands I have been going through a very berry stained phase - the only thing I can applaud Lorde for being a proponent of. Also check out their more fun products too like their Eye Transformer, four opalescent shades that convert your shadow into different colours. It's serious makeup but for the purpose of play and incredibly it's only £3.95!

And on the topic of money, prices start at £1.95 - I'm struggling to think of anything else anywhere near that price point that's actually worthwhile owning (feel free to offer up suggestions by all means). So keep this secret or share it if you're feeling generous enough but whatever you do make sure you take a gander. You won't regret it.
